For businesses both large and small, social media has become an attractive way to add value to your company’s offerings by engaging customers and prospects directly on topics of interest to them. And WordPress offers a strong, stable, extensible platform.
While WordPress is simple enough to use and maintain, many businesses may not have the internal resources to devote to building features, site maintenance, and the other incidentals which go along with maintaining any Web site, or to have someone on staff who is an expert in WordPress. Nor should they. “Do one thing and do it well” is still good business advice. Focus on core competencies, and purchase what you need when you need it.
WordPress Consulting
Once set up and integrated into your existing Web presence, your blog becomes the one part of your site your loyal customers and new prospects tend to find first. They then come back again and again, and if you are engaging them in honest dialogue regarding your products, you are maximizing your sales opportunities.
WordPress is also flexible enough to serve as an entire content management system. Much more lightweight than other offerings such as Drupal yet still highly extensible, it can serve as the foundation for virtually any Web presence.
Selected Work
I can help you with a wide variety of issues you may be facing. Some of the work I’ve done to date includes:
Cheap Stingy Bargains: Custom features for importing data from external sites.
Free Keene: WordPress updates and plugin installation/customization.
Free Talk Live: Ongoing LAMP web server administration. Web server migration from Windows/IIS to Linux/Apache, and later from Apache to nginx. I suppose that means it isn’t exactly LAMP anymore.
Porcupine 411: Custom integration with WordPress Multisite, Facebook, Twitter and Asterisk; phone calls are published directly to WordPress, Facebook and Twitter. Work is ongoing.
WordPress: Occasional bug fix contributions. Author of the Bad Behavior anti-spam plugin.
There are some things I don’t do, though. Web and graphic design is the primary thing; this is just not my area of expertise. I can install your existing theme and make minor changes to a site layout, but I will have to refer major design work to someone else. Windows server administration is the other. I will be happy to help you migrate your site away from Windows, though.
Rate Card
For WordPress installation, updates, custom code, server migration and server administration: $75/hour, ½ hour minimum, ½ hour increments. Small jobs expected to take less than 8 hours may be bid at a flat rate.
